Drinking Song of the Week: Have Some Madeira M’Dear by Flanders and Swann

I first heard this song back in 2006 at a the American Culinary History Archival Symposium at the Clements Library at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. As you can tell by the title, it was attended by lots of culinary history geeks, yours truly included, and so the entertainment at the final night’s banquet featured a duo singing songs about booze and food. Of all the selections, this one stuck out and I’ve hummed it on and off for the past 7 years. I even learned a new vocabulary word, ante-penultimate, from verse three. Hope you enjoy.
