Drinking Song of the Week: Old Cape Cod by Patti Page
Posted on June 26, 2014
So Lee and I got out of town for a week on the Cape. I’ve had the good fortune to go up there for the past several summers, staying with friends, but it was Lee’s first trip there so we did all the tourist things: whale watching, biking in sand dunes, eating lobster, and catching some drag shows. Did I mention we were in Provincetown, land of summer drag? If you are headed there this summer, we recommend The Golden Gals, Varla Jean Merman or Well Strung at the Art House; Dina Martina at the Crown and Anchor and Showgirls at the Atlantic House. We also might have visited the Nor East Beer Garden more than once. (If you go, tell bartender Sarah we said “hi”). Anyway it was magical and we are already planning how to get back. Wearing long sleeves at any time of the summer really matters to a New Orleanian. I didn’t really want our time there to end, so I decided to pick a song in honor of that locale. I hope you all are willing to humor me with my selection. It may not be a song about drinking, but it is a drink. Surely that counts for something.
